Last summer we worked with Eden Reforestation Projects. A great organization that is really getting it done in terms of the reforestation. What’s extraodinary about them is that for just a $10 gift you can plant 100 trees and give someone a job that desperately needs it. Yes, that’s right 100 trees!

So how can they do this? There are some organizations that will charge you up to $7.50 to plant just one tree. Math was never my strong suit but why the giant discrepancy? When I talked with Steve Fitch, President of Eden Reforestation Projects, he said, “We keep our costs so low here in the States and pour as much money into our programming and the work of making this planet healthier.”

Eden works with some great story tellers like the crew at Chronicle Project (their collaboration in 2009 resulted in a award winning short entitled, “Tesfaye”) so we were thrilled to work together on The Eden League. The Eden League is for those who want to make a BIG impact on changing an entire culture through reforestation. More specifically it’s a visual representation on how you and your friends or any social group you’d like to create are making a difference. We worked on the interface and then called up the gents at Abandon Films to help us create an intro video on how to understand the Eden League interface. Here’s what we came up with:

I love the animation in this video and it just received some notoriety from the Addy Awards. The short took silver at the regional Addy’s and then went on to district competition and won another Silver award. The concept is taken from a an analogy that many have heard before and is often used when talking about humanitarian aid. It fit well with their communication style and illustrates the possibilities of the Eden League.
